Beneficiaries of the service Pathways International provides
The overarching objectives are to assist the beneficiaries to attain a level of competence in English which will, according to need, enable them to become better integrated, to gain employment or better employment, as appropriate, and to aid them in the development of skills which will help them to live more independently and make a constructive contribution to society.
Pathways International serves:
Black and Minority Ethnic Residents
- Women with and without pre-school children, who have not been engaged in prior learning for socio-cultural reasons in Bournemouth and other locations
- Working men who have not been able to access existing course provision due to timing and location.
Refugees and asylum seekers
Pathways International welcomes refugees and asylum seekers, both those who have recently arrived and who may also have come from an oral culture and have no prior educational experience, and those who have been here some time but who have failed to integrate or to improve their socio-economic status due to their lack of competence in English.
Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children
Pathways International has consistently supported UASC who have been referred by social services and their subcontracted care organisations and has particularly provided opportunity for education for those vulnerable children of school age who have been unable to find places within the local LEA provision.
Migrant workers
Pathways International seeks to assist individual migrant workers from a range of EU countries, who have either recently arrived or who have been in the UK for some time and all of whom are in evidenced legal employment.
Pathways International can also provide a tailored programme for employers of migrant workers delivered within the workplace.
Indirect Beneficiaries
Indirect beneficiaries of the improved communication of the learners are:
- children and other family members of learners
- school / nursery staff
- the staff of statutory agencies, doctors, solicitors etc.
- workmates and line managers
